How to Leverage AI Tools to Enrich Your Yoga Teaching Experience

How to use ChatGPT as a yoga teacher, black yoga teacher writing5

I never expected to become the “AI lady” in my teaching circle, but a few AI tools later, here we are. I work in marketing during the day, and over time, I started noticing how helpful AI could be in our creative process. That made me curious. If it works so well for brainstorming and planning at work, could it support my yoga classes too?

It turns out, yes. And in more ways than I expected.

At first, I used ChatGPT for quick ideas like class themes or openers. But eventually, it became a steady companion that always had suggestions when I felt stuck or uninspired. I shared this with a few other teachers, and most of them said the same thing: “I have no idea where to begin.”

So if that’s you and you’re curious but maybe a little overwhelmed, I get it. This isn’t about replacing your voice or your intuition. It’s about making the behind-the-scenes work a little lighter, so you can show up more present.

Here are a few ways I use ChatGPT in my practice:

1. For Fresh Class Themes

Sometimes I know the feeling I want to evoke, but I can’t find the words. I’ll literally type:

“Give me 5 yoga class theme ideas for a grounding vinyasa practice inspired by the root chakra.

Or:

“What’s a poetic way to describe releasing control during savasana?”

It responds in seconds, and often the ideas spark my own creativity.

2. Sequencing Help (Not Copying, Just Sparking)

I never use a sequence exactly as written, but I’ll ask:

“Create a 60-minute vinyasa yoga sequence focused on opening the heart. Include a short meditation and breathwork suggestion.”

This gives me a rough draft to shape into something that feels like me.

3. Creating Gentle Cues or Scripts

There are days I’m burnt out and words feel heavy. I’ll ask:

“What are some affirming cues to guide students through a standing forward fold with softness?”

Or even:

“Write a short intention-setting script for the beginning of a restorative class themed around compassion.”

Sometimes I tweak what it gives me. Sometimes I use it almost word-for-word. But it keeps me connected to language, even when I’m not at my most eloquent.

4. Newsletters, Class Descriptions, & Social Posts

You know how it goes. Writing an IG caption can end up taking longer than the class itself. ChatGPT helps me write blurbs that still sound like me but do not take 45 minutes to craft.

Prompt example:

“Write a warm, inviting Instagram caption for a full moon flow centered around forgiveness. Make it sound grounded and feminine.”

Final Thoughts

What can take the pressure off of getting started with ChatGPT is simply viewing it as tool. One that’s surprisingly kind when you let it be. You still bring the soul, the sequencing, the playlist, the energy of the room. But if you’re feeling tired, creatively blocked, or just need a nudge, this can be the quiet helper in the background who’s always ready to brainstorm with you.

If you’re curious but don’t know where to start, try this:

“I’m a beginner yoga teacher. I woul describe my teaching style as xyz. Can you help me write a 45-minute gentle flow class with a calming theme and beginner-friendly language?”

Let it surprise you. Let it support you. You don’t have to do this all alone. Give ChatGPT a try here.
